Document Verification Service (DVS)

22 May 2025

| Credit Union SA

At Credit Union SA we understand how important it is to protect your privacy and the confidentiality of your personal information.

That's why we use the Document Verification System (DVS) to check your identity documents when you apply to become a member of Credit Union SA, or apply for one of our products or services.

What is the DVS?

The DVS is a secure online system operated by the Australian Government. It is used to check that information on your proof of identity matches the original record.

Credit Union SA and the DVS

Credit Union SA uses the DVS to check your identity information or documents we collect from you when you apply to become a Credit Union SA member, or when you apply for one of our products or services, including the provision of credit. The DVS makes it harder for people to use fake identity documents. The result will simply be a "yes" or "no".

We will only use the DVS if you give us your consent. You have the right to refuse your consent to the use of the DVS.

What if you do not consent to us verifying your identity using the DVS?

If you do not consent to us verifying your identity using the DVS, we will provide you with an alternative verification process to identify you. If this is the case, please contact us on 13 8777 for further information.

What happens if your identity verification fails?

If we are unable to verify your identity, we will not be able to open a membership for you or to provide you with one of our products or services.

Need to make a complaint?

If you have any questions, concerns or complaints about the collection, use and disclosure of your information for the DVS, please contact our Privacy Officer. Our Privacy Officer’s contact details are:
