Credit Union SA appoints new Board Appointed Directors

1 Feb 2019

Credit Union SA, as part of its ongoing Director refreshment and renewal activities, has taken the opportunity to enhance its Board leadership skills and knowledge with the appointment of Ms Julie Cooper and Mr Paul Dewsnap to the Board of Directors, effective 1 February 2019.

The appointments coincide with the retirement of two long serving Directors in late 2018.

In announcing the appointments of Ms Cooper and Mr Dewsnap, Credit Union SA’s Chair, Ms Carolyn Mitchell, said “Julie and Paul’s extensive experience and knowledge will be of great value to Credit Union SA and its members, and their appointment fulfils the Board’s aim for refreshment and renewal as well as introducing more specialist skillsets to the board.  Specialist skills will be needed to guide the organisation as it implements its strategy to be digital at the core with a distribution network that provides a human touch”.

Ms Cooper is an experienced management consultant providing expertise in strategy, leadership, people and culture, and organisation design and development. She has worked internationally, most notably for global Management Consulting firm, McKinsey & Company, in London.

Ms Cooper worked in operational leadership roles in the brewing, banking and defence sectors across Australia and in the UK prior to her consulting roles, and is currently a Director on the Board of Nova Systems Pty Ltd and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors’ ‘Tomorrow’s Director Committee’.

Mr Dewsnap is a specialist consultant on the application of emerging technologies and associated opportunities, operational risks and compensating controls. As an experienced ASX 100 Executive, he has held a number of roles focused on digital technology within the financial services industry, most recently as Chief Information Security Officer for ME Bank, and prior to that various roles at Bendigo and Adelaide Bank including Head of Group Strategy and Architecture, Head of Solution Design and Development and Head of IT Governance, Information Security and Risk.

Before moving into financial services, Mr Dewsnap spent several years in professional services and biotechnology where he led a number of large-scale technology initiatives that spanned both North America and Europe.
