Protecting our members' funds is of paramount importance to Credit Union SA.

So although we have an exceptionally low incidence of fraud, we're constantly taking steps to keep it that way.

Our Fraud Bureau Service (FBS) – provided at no extra cost – is a great example.

Operated by fraud identification specialists, FBS provides Credit Union SA members around-the-clock protection against fraudulent transactions, 365 days a year.

If a transaction is identified as suspicious, a FBS specialist will contact you between 7.00am and 10.00pm (SA time) to query its validity. If it appears an act of fraud has taken place, they will immediately block your account and commence an investigation.

If they're unable to contact you, they'll make a determination themselves as to whether the transaction is suspicious, based on a number of factors.

For members who experience potential fraud incidents between 10.00pm and 7.00am, the Fraud Bureau Service will:

  • Send members an SMS between 7:30am and 8:30am

  • Send a reminder SMS in the afternoon to those members who have not responded.


How to validate our call

If you receive a call from the FBS, you'll be provided with a unique reference number. You will then have the option of confirming the validity of the call by visiting this page of the Credit Union SA website to find a number to call. That number is 1300 705 750.

This will connect you with the FBS team. You will then be required to quote the unique reference number you were given.
