Use of VISA Debit Cards at Woolworths
Retail giant Woolworths has announced changes to the way VISA Debit Cards will operate in their group of stores.
Starting 15th April progressively across the country, members using VISA Debit Cards to pay for goods at Woolworths' checkouts will no longer be able to use the "Credit" (Cr) option.
The VISA Debit Card can still be used at Woolworths’ stores by using the "Savings" (Sav) or the "Cheque" (Chq) options on its PINpad terminals. However, the member must use their PIN when choosing these options.
If members have forgotten or haven't registered a PIN they should contact Credit Union SA to make arrangements to get a new PIN if they wish to use their VISA Debit Card at Woolworths' outlets.
The stores that are part of the Woolworths family include BIG W, Woolworths Supermarkets, Safeway Supermarkets, Woolworths Liquor, Safeway Liquor, BWS, Dan Murphy's, Dick Smith, Tandy, Woolworths Petrol, Safeway Petrol, Caltex Woolworths petrol outlets, Thomas Dux and ALH.
At all other stores (other than those operated by the Woolworths group) members may continue to use the "Credit" (Cr) option.
This is a disappointing outcome and decision by Woolworths, however Credit Union SA is committed to ensuring that the impact to our members is minimal.
